Pirelli busy assessing 2012 tyres at Abu Dhabi test

This week’s test at Yas Marina may have been designed to allow the teams to audition young drivers, but tyre supplier Pirelli will also use the three-day session in Abu Dhabi to trial a selection of prototype compounds that they hope to introduce in 2012.

Vergne to star for Red Bull at young driver test

Red Bull have revealed on Tuesday that Jean-Eric Vergne is to take charge of their championship-winning RB7 at the forthcoming Abu Dhabi young driver test. Vergne recently sampled Jaime Alguersuari’s Toro Rosso STR06 during the opening Friday practice session in Korea.

Hamilton and Perez penalised for ignoring yellow flags

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Sauber’s Sergio Perez have both been handed three-place grid penalties for Sunday’s Indian race. The New Delhi stewards decided Hamilton and Perez had ignored double waved yellow flags during Practice One at the Buddh International Circuit on Friday morning.

Lotus to get KERS in extended Renault and Red Bull deal

Monaco qualifying halted by Perez accident

Qualifying in Monaco was suspended with a little over two minutes of Q3 remaining after a heavy shunt for Sauber's Sergio Perez. Perez lost control at high speed exiting the tunnel and impacted side-on with the barrier at the Turn 10.

Hulkenberg and manager Weber to split

Force India reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg and manager Willi Weber are to part ways. The reasons for the split have not been revealed, but Hulkenberg has announced he will manage his own affairs from now on with additional PR help.

Vettel to stay at Red Bull until 2014

Red Bull have announced on Monday that Sebastian Vettel will continue to drive for the team until the end of the 2014 season. Last year, at just 23 years-old, Vettel became the sport’s youngest-ever world champion after scoring 10 pole positions, five victories and 256 points in the team’s RB6.
