Renault take wraps off R31 in Valencia

Hot on the heels of rivals Lotus and Sauber, Renault have become the latest team to reveal their 2011 car. The R31, bedecked in the iconic black and gold colours associated with backers Group Lotus, was presented to the media in the pit lane of the Valencia track, ahead of the first pre-season test of the year which will begin on Tuesday at the Spanish circuit.

Fresh from its launch, Ferrari’s 2011 car hit the track for the very first time in Italy on Friday afternoon, for promotional filming purposes. The honour of putting the F150 through its debut paces at the Italian team’s Fiorano test circuit was bestowed on Fernando Alonso.

Paul di Resta to race for Force India in 2011

Reigning DTM champion Paul di Resta will partner Adrian Sutil at Force India in 2011, it was confirmed at a press conference in Scotland on Wednesday. Di Resta, who was the team’s third driver during 2010, will take to the grid for the first time at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Hamilton to debut new McLaren at Jerez test

McLaren have revealed Lewis Hamilton will be at the wheel of their 2011 car when it makes its track debut at Jerez on February 10. Hamilton will sample the MP4-26 on the first day of the test before handing the car over to team mate Jenson Button for the second day of running at the Spanish circuit.

Pirelli 'ready for Formula One' after Abu Dhabi test

Pirelli brought their private test schedule to a close in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, ahead of their return to Formula One racing this season. Spanish driver Pedro de la Rosa was at the wheel of the test car at the Yas Marina Circuit, sampling the Italian tyre manufacturer’s dry, wet and intermediate rubber.

Mercedes GP will launch their 2011 car in the Valencia pit lane ahead of the first multi-team test of the year. The MGP W02 will be unveiled in front of the team's garage on the morning of February 1 at the Spanish circuit, before it's given its on-track debut later in the day.  

Renault unveil definitive 2011 livery

The Group Lotus-backed Renault team have revealed the final version of the black and gold livery in which their cars will contest the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship. The distinctive colour scheme pays homage to the famous Lotus F1 machines of the 1970s and ‘80s.

They may be busy on the slopes at their annual ‘Wrooom’ gathering at the Madonna di Campiglio ski resort, but Ferrari have found time to announce the exact date they plan to launch their 2011 car. The Italian team, who had previously said the unveiling would take place ‘during the final week of January’, have confirmed the wraps will come off the new machine on January 28.

Karthikeyan to make Formula One return with HRT

Narain Karthikeyan is to make a surprise comeback to Formula One racing after being signed by HRT for the 2011 season. Karthikeyan, who last competed in the sport in 2005 for Jordan, tested for the Williams team in 2006 to 2007 and remains the only Indian driver to have scored world championship points, after finishing fourth at the 2005 United States Grand Prix.

The event will take place at the end of the month, before the first official test of the year gets underway at the Spanish circuit of Valencia on February 1.

Renault have announced they will retain Vitaly Petrov for the next two seasons. It means the Russian driver will again partner Robert Kubica in 2011.
"I am very happy to continue with the team and proud to be representing Lotus Renault GP for the 2011 and 2012 seasons,” said Petrov, who has just completed his rookie F1 campaign with the team. “I learned a lot about the sport, the circuits and the car this year. That will help me improve even more in the future.

Lotus take the wraps off the T127

The new Lotus team officially launched their 2010 car on Friday, as the Cosworth-powered T127 was unveiled in the UK. The Malaysian-backed squad, one of four new entrants this season, will put the legendary Lotus name back on the grid for the first time since 1994.
