Ferrari driver Felipe Massa enjoyed an early Christmas present on Tuesday after getting back behind the wheel of a Formula One car. Massa, who missed the last eight races of the 2009 season after fracturing his skull, completed 30 laps of the Mugello circuit as his two-day test got underway.

The Brazilian was in action in a two year-old F2007, which had been provided by the Italian teams F1 Clienti department. Although poor weather limited his running, Massa was pleased to get the chance to sharpen his skills once again, ahead of his planned comeback next season.

“Im happy that I could get into this car and it is always a pleasure driving on a track like Mugello,” he told Ferraris official website. “Everything went well, but its a pity that I could only drive in the afternoon.”

Weather permitting, Massa will test again at the Italian track on Wednesday, before flying home to Brazil.Ferrari driver Felipe Massa enjoyed an early Christmas present on Tuesday after getting back behind the wheel of a Formula One car.
