Williams to champion road safety during Moscow run

Williams are to journey to Russia this weekend to take part in the Moscow City Racing event, alongside fellow Formula One teams McLaren and Red Bull. The annual motorsport festival will be held in the heart of the Russian city on Sunday, with St Basils Cathedral, the Bolshoi theatre, Red Square and the Kremlin all providing a stunning backdrop to the 4.5-kilometre street circuit.

Whilst driver Kazuki Nakajima wows the crowd in his Formula One car, Williams will also be busy promoting the first global ministerial conference on road safety, which will be hosted in the city in November.

“I am delighted to be returning to Russia and personally take a great deal of interest in our mission not only to help develop interest in Formula One in Russia, but we are this year entrusted as envoys of a critical message about road safety,” explained team principal Frank Williams. “This is a subject that I, based on personal experience, regard as hugely important.”

Nakajimas car is to feature a revised livery at the event, which will include the FIAs ‘Make Roads Safe logo in its design.
