Trio of teams to hit the streets of Rotterdam

The streets of Rotterdam in the Netherlands will ring to the sound of Formula One engines this weekend when Toyota, Force India and Renault all demonstrate cars as part of the Bavaria City Racing event.

The annual motorsport festivals spectacular downtown lay-out will give fans a superb chance to see a Formula One car close up, with drivers crossing the Willemsbrug bridge and passing some of the city's most recognisable landmarks on Coolsingel before the 2.2-kilometre track loops back on itself at Hofplein.

"It's very exciting to get the chance to show everyone in Rotterdam what Formula One is all about,” said Toyotas Jarno Trulli, who will perform two three-lap demonstration runs on Sunday afternoon (in addition to an installation lap) in the Japanese teams TF107 machine.

“Driving through the centre of the city will certainly be spectacular to watch and very exciting for me as the driver too. I expect it to be a great show and it will really build the anticipation for the street race in Valencia. I have never driven at this event in Rotterdam before but I won the Monaco Grand Prix a few years ago so I think I can manage!"

Joining Trulli in Rotterdam will be Force India race drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil, while Renault will be running test driver Sakon Yamamoto, as well as drafting in local hero and occasional Red Bull tester Robert Doornbos.

"It always feels good to be back in my hometown Rotterdam,” Doornbos told his official website. “I'm really looking forward to the event, as I have great memories of the 2005 and 2007 editions in which I also participated. Together with the ING Renault F1 team I'm really pumped up to give people the best ever F1 demo they have ever seen!"

As well as the action on Sunday, the festival has plenty to offer fans on Friday and Saturday. The Formula One teams will take part in the interactive ‘Race Salon display over two days at Ahoy Rotterdam when visitors will be able to look behind the scenes of a simulated Formula One pit lane.

Elsewhere this weekend, Toyotas Timo Glock will be in action in California in the United States, where he joins the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races presented by Toyota at Laguna Seca. Glock will demonstrate the IMSA championship-winning Toyota Eagle Mark III sportscar, while also taking part in the Toyota Race of Legends in a Scion tC sport coupe.
